"The First Look"

Lately there has been a lot of talk about the "First Look". The first look basically implies that the bride and groom meet up- in their full attire- before the ceremony. Many do not like this idea as it is not traditional but it has been argued that it takes a lot of stress off of the bride and groom. Brides who have done this have said that the groom's reaction was something that would not have happened in front of friends and family and they insist that the ceremony is still special because of the friends, family, marriage officer/ priest and the music. Brides and grooms also say that by doing the photo shoot before the ceremony they get more time alone, spend most of the day together and have less pressure to rush the shoot- and the photographs are priceless. Sometimes it can be challenging for the photographer to catch the groom's first impression because most of the focus is on the bride or the ceremony area and lighting do not allow it. Would you consider doing the "first look"?

Engagement Shoot

Besides "on the day photography", photographers generally offer three other types of shoots- the engagement shoot, wedding boudoir shoot and the trash the dress shoot. This week I will be exploring all three. The engagement shoot is often offered for free in the photographer's package and is a great way for the bride and groom to become comfortable in front of the camera. It also helps the photographer get to know the couple and what their strengths and weaknesses are which will allow the shoot on the day to move along a bit faster. The engagement shoot should be a fun way for the bride and groom to take a break from all the wedding planning and just enjoy each other's company. The couple should plan a theme that suits their personalities. These photographs are a perfect way to personalise the save the date cards.

Lawn Games

It is such a relief to see more brides and grooms starting to pay attention to the pre drinks hour- the time between the ceremony and reception. In the past many have just gone off to do their couple and family photo shoot and have left their guests to keep themselves entertained. Lately though drinks and special canapes are often set up or the latest craze are these lawn games. Easy to set up and affordable- they provide lots of laughs and entertainment for your guests.

Lemonade Stands

It is no secret that I love different and fun stands at weddings and the latest to catch my attention is the lemonade stand. They are so easy to set up yourself and are cost effective. It is perfect to serve during the canape hour on a hot summer day. You will not need to organise waiters as it can be set up as a self-service stand or it would be a great way to get the kids from the wedding involved. They are eye catching and make for great photographs- perfect for shabby chic, rustic, picnic, yellow or even vintage themed weddings.
