A Statement Necklace for the Bride

I will be the first to admit that I have never really been a fan of brides wearing necklaces but this new trend has definitely grown on me. The trick is to pair the statement necklace with the correct neckline and keep everything else simple- it also takes a certain type of personality to pull this off. I love the glamorous feel a statement necklace creates and the gorgeous photographs.

Wedding Dress Trends 2013

Yes it is that time of the year again- that exciting time of the year where the new bridal ranges are being showcased. The 2012 collections were toying with the idea of making tulle centre stage and this year the designers have taken it to another level with tulle everywhere- big tulle skirts and tulle overlays with many layers of ruffles. Chiffon is a very popular fabric but bear in mind this is not an easy fabric to wear as it can be very clingy and shows off everything. The vintage trend is still prominent for 2013 making way for lace gowns but beading and bling seem to be slowly over shadowing it. Separate tops and skirts were seen in many collections allowing the skirts to be fuller while the corsets stay structured. Other popular silhouettes include the more traditional A-Line, Ballgown and Drop Waist. Movement and Texture are everywhere for 2013! The ever popular sweet heart neckline is making way for straight across necklines, straps, halternecks and back embellishments. White is also no longer a must have with more and more designers showcasing coloured gowns.

Love is Sweet

I recently wrote about the ever so popular Candy Bar Stations and another trend that we are seeing more often at weddings is the "Love is Sweet" sign. It is perfect for your candy station, your dessert table or even just next to your wedding cake. This is another small touch to add to your wedding that is inexpensive and can become the perfect project for DIY brides.

a Bride and her Boots

This we are seeing so often lately and due to our very rainy weather in Johannesburg today I was inspired to post about brides wearing boots. Some brides do it because it is their personal style, others because they have western themed wedding or others do due to the weather on their wedding day; but no matter the reason I think it looks lovely and different in photographs.
